Heathrow and Gatwick Airports
The main UK destinations for long haul flights and many european flights are Heathrow Airport and Gatwick Airports. Bournemouth can be reached from Heathrow or Gatwick by train, see the National Rail Enquiries web site for timetables, or bus, see the National Express Bus web site. The journey is quite convenient and times are approximately two to three hours.
Travelling time to Bournemouth from Heathrow or Gatwick is about 1.5 hours or 2 hours by car. A taxi from Heathrow or Gatwick to Bournemouth is likely to be very expensive. We recommend that you use the bus or train.
Other London Airports
There are airports at London Luton, London Stanstead and London City, which low cost airlines fly into. These offer good value, and travel to Bournemouth from these airports is possible by rail through London, but journey times are likely to be quite long.
Bournemouth International Airport
Bournemouth International Airport is located at Hurn, about 6 miles from Bournemouth (15 minutes by car). Budget carriers Ryanair and Thomson operate low cost flights to Bournemouth from various UK and European cities. A shuttle bus service runs between the airport Bournemouth railway station. Southampton International Airport
Southampton International Airport is about 30 minutes from Bournemouth by car. Low cost carriers, for example Flybe operate between Southampton and mainly European cities. There is a direct rail link between Southampton and Bournemouth, and convenient bus links.
